NASA's space shuttle was the world's first reusable spacecraft. It launched like a rocket and returned to Earth like a glider. The shuttle, officially called the Space Transportation System, was made up of three main components : two solid rocket boosters which provided most of the shuttle's thrust during launch, the 15 stories tall rust-coloured external tank - the only shuttle component that was not reused - which fed fuel to the three main engines during launch and the orbiter, which contained the crew cabin, payload bay and three main engines.
Metal Earth Premium Series models are larger in scale with greater detail. Parts are cut from one or more 8-inch by 4.3-inch high-quality steel sheets. Easy to follow instructions are included with each kit and no glue or solder is required. Simply snip out the pieces and bend the tabs through corresponding connection points. Metal Earth Premium Series - bigger, more details, more fun!
The Space Shuttle Launch Kit Premium Series metal modelling kit includes 3 metal sheets containing components of the Space Transportation System. Parts can be removed from the metal sheet by hand, however a pair of wire cutters is recommended. In assembling the 3D model, tweezers make an ideal tool for bending and twisting connection tabs. Shuttle nameplates are included in the kit: Atlantis, Discovery, Endeavor and Enterprise.
